The Toronto Section held its 6th annual Tech Session put on by Mercedes-Benz Canada on April 22nd at their Toronto training facility near Pearson airport. A record 50 participants attended this event hosted by Arden Nerling, Events Manager of Mercedes-Benz Canada. The presentation by Derrick Tan, Sales Trainer at the Training Academy included a review of some of the technology in the new 2017 SL models and the E400. This was followed by a walk around of a 2017 AMG SL63 and an E400 wagon that were on display. The technology highlighted for the SL was Magic Sky control and Magic Vision Control. Magic Sky Control allows the sun roof to be darkened at the touch of a button. The Magic Vision Control is a new technology that direct windshield washer fluid in front of the wiper blade in the direction of the wiper’s sweep. This eliminates the overspray that occurs in regular systems and provides a more efficient cleaning of the windshield.
Derek reminded us that Mercedes vehicles are built for the German autobahn and the performance, aerodynamics and safety features in each vehicle is phenomenal.
Derek also demonstrated a cut-away version of AMG’s new 4.7 “hot turbo” engine as well as the new hybrid transmission from Mercedes. This transmission has 9 speeds and a built-in electric motor that provides instant torque and better fuel mileage.
The apple and blueberry strudel as well as the pretzels were delicious and, along with the complimentary coffee, all disappeared.
There were draws for a Mercedes-Benz beach towel, thermos, and BBQ set between presentations. In addition to those lucky winners, ever attendee received a complimentary sample of Sonax car wash and a Mercedes-Benz pen with tablet pointer built-in.
The warm spring sunshine kept some of the members outside during the break to look at the latest acquisitions of their fellow members and to share stories.
